An Erasmus+ youth exchange "Youth Re-Action- DevelOping MedIa Literacy" took place on 21-28 June 2018 in Spain
The «Youth Re-Action- DevelOping MedIa Literacy» project was organized in Spain to increase youth's competences in media literacy and critical thinking.
Improving critical thinking and correctly interpreting media messages is of fundamental importance to young people, especially in the context of the rapid development of information technologies. The media have a great impact on the formation of public opinion, as well as the formation of young people’s life, society and civil activism.
The main objective of the project was to help young people to develop critical thinking to correctly understand the media, improve literacy in this sense, analyze the messages of the media, prove reliability, look for prejudices. The exchange was organized with 4 participating countries: Lithuania, Ukraine, Georgia and Spain. This project obtained advantages in terms of transfer of knowledge and shared practices between countries such as Lithuania, Georgia and Ukraine, since they have different experience from European countries, countries are in different stages of youth political formation and civil activism.
Through numerous activities such as cultural events, visits to new cities, exploration of the local society, messages from local media and discussions about media based on specific contexts of each country, as well as presentation about the Erasmus + program, multicultural learning resulted strong integration of young participants with different national and cultural backgrounds.
