An Erasmus+ youth exchange "Youth Action for Climate" took place on 3-11 July 2018 in Portugal
Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Youth Action for Climate” participants' personal reports. Project took place in Evora, Portugal on July 3-11,2018 with the financial support of Portuguese National Agency of Erasmus+ programme (Agência Nacional para a Gestão do Programa Erasmus+ Juventude em Ação).
Tetiana Kalchenko (Participant):
“The program of the Erasmus+ Project: Youth Action for Climate (YAC) was different and well thought out. During the first day participants got acquainted with each other and with city Evora as well. Also participants divided the duties during the project. The next days were very qualitative and busy; we explored the concept of carbon footprint, discussed the rules of ecological living, thought about the consequences of uncontrolled use of nature resources. Ukrainian team prepared the sessions about types of campaigns and making catchy slogans."
Iliana Dimitrova (Participant):
“When Nikolay Kuzmanov from Argus group called me to ask if I wanted to join the project I was so happy that there was no way to say no. Now, almost at the end of the project, I can definitely say that I don't regret it at all.
During this project I have met very nice people from different countries - Ukraine, Georgia and Portugal. Everyday we had a lot of sessions divided by the countries that presented them. I have learned so many interesting things and some of them I plan to use in the future. For example two participants from the Georgian team - Etuna Burduli and George Beselia introduced us to a game that helps you to calculate you carbon footprint and I plan to show it to my friends to raise awareness.
Although we had a lot of sessions, we also had some free time to explore Evora. It is such a beautiful town with lovely castles and a lot of purple trees that are out of this world. Because of this project I have learned that I should be more positive and just enjoy. At the end of project we had to make a town campaign and our team chose to do a photo frame to bring attention to the ecological problems. Although there were people that didn't even wanted to talk with us or gave us money, there were so much more that wanted to take a picture and to know more about the project. The past few days I made new friendships and had the time of my life. I hope we meet again.
As a part of program national evenings of Portugal, Ukraine, Georgia and Bulgaria were conducted. Our whole-day trip to the biggest in Europe artificial lake Alqueva have us many new thoughts. We were impressed by this initiative and compared it with our countries' realities. During the last day teams realized the town campaign to increase local public's awareness about climate problems. The project was really interesting and productive and gave all the participants new ideas!”
